Day 1 – Arusha- (D)
Known as the safari capital of Tanzania, Arusha is located at the foot of Mount Meru – conveniently close to Mount Kilimanjaro and the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. The Serengeti lies a little further to the west and the Arusha National Park just to the north, on the slopes of Mount Meru. The city was built by Germans as a centre of colonial administration due to the temperate climate. Today, Arusha is a great place to relax before or after going on safari. Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet and greet by our guide and private transfer to Arusha. Day 2 – Arusha- August 2 (B, L, D)
o Breakfast at the hotel.
o After breakfast, depart for the Maasai market visit, Central Market tour and the Tanzanite experience.
o Lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge. After lunch, you will experience the coffee tour and Shanga visit at Arusha Coffee Lodge.
o In the evening drive to your hotel via Cultural Heritage.
o Dinner at hotel.
Day 3 – August 3 - Lake Burunge Tented Camp, Lake Burunge (B, L, D)
Lake Burunge – set within the ecologically important migratory corridor of Manyara and Tarangire, Lake Burunge-Manyara is one of three major lakes in Tanzania’s Manyara region that provides incredible game viewing opportunities. Lookout decks along the shore offer close-up encounters with the wild animals which come to drink or hunt, as well as with 300 bird species. Game drives, guided walks, canoeing and cultural tours to the neighbouring Mbugwe and Maasai villages are just some of the activities visitors can look forward to. Neighbouring Tarangire National Park is another highlight of the area, only 30 kilometres away.

Lake Burunge Tented Camp – Permanent luxury tents. Located only 10 minutes from Tarangire National Park, the lodge consists of 30 rooms with en suite facilities. Among them 6 family tents that consist of two interconnected rooms. Activities: Game drives in Tarangire National Park, guided nature walks and / or visit a boma (village) to interact with the local Mbuwge people and learn about their culture.

Karatu
Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngoronogoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Deani Volcano, this small colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongo Forest in search of waterfalls and caves. Whether you are looking for a cultural tours, hiking or biking opportunities, a achance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

Lake Manyara
A shallow, alkaline lake set at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic spectacle of pods of hippos, pink flamingos and over 400 species of waterfowl or migrant birds that flock to the salty shore, a birdwatcher’s paradise. In additional to the lake, visitors can embark on a game drive and explore the stunning natural mosaic of grassy floodplains, rocky escarpment, acacia woodland and hot springs of Lake Manyara National Park, and observe elephant, buffalo, cheetah, hippo, Masai giraffe, wildebeest, impala, zebra, warthogs, hyenas, and tree-climbing lions. Don’t miss the Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway, which offers a magnificent bird’s eye view from a series of suspension bridges perched up to 18 metres above the prolific forest.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Farm House
Ngorongo Farmhouse Lodge is situated beneath the majestic Oldeani Volcano and boasts easy access to both the untamed wilderness of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as the simple pleasure of a ramble through 500 acres of farmland. Ngorongoro Farm House was inaugurated on February 20th, 2003, as is offering 52 room cottages, 49 standard rooms and 3 suite rooms, all with ample space inside, built on the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials and full of details of good tastes, with purpose of offering our clients an imaginary journey to the life of the days gone.

The Ngorongoro Crater, a large, unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera is the pride of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater, which formed when a giant volcano explored and collapsed on itself, is 610m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260km2 (100 sq/mi). Descend into the crater through a lush highland forest, with magnificent birdlife in a startling number of tree species. Discover a large variety of grazing herbivores on the grassy crater floor, as well as the predators that are attracted by this abundant supply of prey. Depending on the time of year, you may see huge flocks of pink flamingos around the shores of the shallow Lake Magadi, and hippo in the surrounding swamp. The Ngorongor Crater boast an incredible abundance of wildlife.
Day 7 – Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, Seronera – Wednesday August 7 (B, L, D)
Seronera
The Seronera region, in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood the ara and move across the plains. While migratory game populations fluctuate seasonally, Seronera is still a wildlife hotspot at other times of year, providing shelter to the Big Five, among many other species. A number of small campsites provide accommodation and visitors can enjoy hot air balloon trips and walking safaris as well as guided game drives.

Olduvai Gorge is a paleoanthropological site of major significance, where an old river has carved away the rock to expose layer upon layer of volcanic soil. This is where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey found the remains of hominids “Nutcracker Man”, “Tool Making Man” and “Lucy”, discoveries that have helped to fill some of the missing links in the chain of human evolution and added more evidence to the theory of modern man’s emergence in Africa.
The “Cradle of Mankind” now has a visitor centre where you may hear a short lecture on the work of the Leakey’s and their successors and a small museum where you may see some oof their finds, including a giant giraffe - it is hard to believe that they were once even taller!
Overnight: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge
Day 8 – 10 – Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, Seronera – Thursday August 8 to Saturday August 10 (B, L, D)
o Optional: Early morning Hot Air Balloon including Champagne breakfast. (Balloons typically launch around 06:30. You will be back at the camp by 9:30 to continue your safari activities.

Day 10 – End of Itinerary – Saturday August 10 (B)

o Private transfer to Seronera airstrip, check-in for the scheduled light aircraft flight to Kilimanjaro.
o Scheduled light aircraft flight: Seronera Airstrip to Kilimanjaro Airport, luggage allowance 15kg/33 lbs per person in soft bags. Possible stops enroute.
o Arrive at the airport and check in for your onward flight.

The advertised price is in Canadian Dollars and includes security & local taxes per the itinerary. Group price is based on a minimum of 12 guests. A surcharge will apply should the group fall below 12 and subject to cancellation should the number fall below 10. Average group size is 12 - 16. Maximum group size is limited to 18.
We reserve the right to deviate from the tour itinerary, inclusions or hotels should circumstances dictate. If a hotel is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a hotel of similar rating.
Cancellations: 91 days and over prior to departure – loss of per person deposit, 90 – 61 days prior to departure – 50% per person of the total trip cost, 60 – 45 days prior to departure 75% per person of the total trip cost, 45 – Day of departure/no show – 100% per person of the total trip cost.
Additional supplier penalties may apply depending on the date of cancellation.
Amendments: An administration fee of $125 per person may apply to any changes made to your booking once confirmed, including but not limited to changes in pre/post trip accommodation and transfers. Please note that name changes are not allowed and flight changes are subject to availability and airline policies. Additional change fees may be charged by suppliers.
Refunds: No refund is available if cancellations occur after the trip has commenced or in respect to any trips, accommodation, meals or any other services not utilized.
Itinerary Changes & Trip Cancellation: Further Afield Travel and Tours reserves the right to vary itineraries should circumstances dictate, as well as cancel or reschedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements, or circumstances beyond its control. Hotels listed may be replaced with similar accommodation should the noted hotel not be available at time of confirmation. The advertised tours require minimum numbers to depart. Should these not be met, Further Afield Travel and Tours reserves the right to cancel arrangements.
Trip Membership: Any person less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. The Travel Director may at his/her discretion, require any person to withdraw from any trip if he or she deems the person’s acts or conduct offensive or a nuisance to other passengers, and we shall have no further liability.
